Savill Garden - 05/08/2008 SQUIRES LANDSCAPE CROWN ESTATE PLAY AREA Squires Landscape recently completed the construction of a Toddler play just outside the Savill Garden on the Windsor Great Park for the Crown Estate. The play area was officially opened on Thursday 10th July by representatives from the Crown Estate, Ian Grant, Roger Bright and Philip Everett. Joining the procedures were 340 crown employees. The area consists of a shipwreck, toddler swings, a climbing frame and a large deck constructed in Southern American Yellow pine. The project was constructed by Matt Anderson-Ford and Tomasz Filipkiewics with some help towards the end in really terrible weather conditions from Richard Woodman and Tristan Lovesey. The Royal Landscape is an area of a thousand acres of gardens and parkland, accessible to the public, at the southern end of Windsor Great Park. It includes The Savill Garden, The Valley Gardens and Virginia Water Lake. It is a man-made landscape, which has been shaped and planted over a period of 400 years. The Crown Estate is the owner and steward of Windsor Great Park. “It is a privilege to have had the opportunity to construct this scheme within such a grand setting and a testament to the skills of Matt and Tomasz that we have been able to maintain the high standards that such an environment requires” said John Culpin, Contracts Manager, Squires Landscape. “This scheme has been an ideal showcase for the quality and flexibility of skills that Squires Landscape can provide to both large scale domestic projects and smaller commercial landscape projects.
